Travel Medicine

Travel medicine is counselling,
then vaccination.

Every trip is different. A safari in Tanzania needs different vaccinations than a backpacker trip through Southeast Asia or a six-month stay in São Paulo. We discuss your route, your activities and your vaccination status.

What you already have, stays. What you need, you receive directly on site. What is really not needed, we say so too.

What we offer on site.

Hepatitis A + B

Classic travel vaccination for tropics and subtropics, also for longer stays or backpacker routes.

Typhoid

For travel to countries with limited water and food hygiene. Oral or injection vaccine.

Rabies

Recommended for trekking, bush camping, longer stays in rabies-endemic areas. Three-dose schedule before departure.

TBE (tick-borne encephalitis)

For Central European travel with outdoor stays (hiking, camping). Also relevant in German risk areas.

Malaria prophylaxis

Not a vaccination but medication. We discuss effect, side effects and travel protection for the respective region. Prescription for the pharmacy.

Further travel vaccinations (cholera, Japanese encephalitis, meningococci) on request. We order vaccines individually for your appointment.

How we prepare
your trip.

Start ideally 6 to 8 weeks before travel. Some vaccinations require a primary series across several appointments. We tell you on the phone what is possible in your timeline.

What you still want to know.

How early should I come before departure?

Ideally 6 to 8 weeks before departure. Some vaccinations need a primary series across several appointments, or protection only builds over 2 to 3 weeks. For short-notice trips we often still find a solution — we discuss this on the phone.

Are travel vaccinations covered by health insurance?

Travel vaccinations are usually self-pay. Some health insurers reimburse travel vaccinations voluntarily (often 80 to 100 %), but that depends on your insurer. We issue an invoice that you can submit to your insurer.

What does a yellow fever vaccination cost?

The vaccine itself costs around € 60 to 70, plus the counselling and vaccination conversation. We state the exact costs on the phone and on the invoice so there are no surprises before the appointment.

Can we vaccinate the whole family at one appointment?

Yes, gladly. Tell us at request time how many people are coming and which age groups, then we plan the appointment accordingly.

What about chronic conditions or pregnancy?

Some vaccinations are not suitable under certain conditions. Bring your findings and we discuss which vaccinations fit you personally and which we should better leave out.

From our practice philosophy

„Anyone travelling has a right to honest counselling. Not every trip needs every vaccination. But every trip deserves that we look closely at what you really need."

Prepare your trip.

Tell us where and when. We respond with an appointment proposal and a first assessment of which vaccinations are important for your trip.
